This past week, one new building permit was issued across Alabama for construction projects exceeding $1 million. The lone high-dollar project is for a new restaurant going in the old Oxford Train Station.

The lone million-dollar-plus building permit issued this past week in Alabama was a $1.08 million project that is transforming the old Oxford Train station into a new restaurant.

Spring Street Station will open later this year, a restaurant and event venue in historic downtown Oxford. Here are some details:

  • The restaurant is owned by local restaurateur Charlotte Hubbard.
  • Spring Street Station will serve lunch and dinner.
  • The restaurant will serve “upscale fast food” which will range from special topping hot dogs to wings and burgers.
  • Live music will be featured with a venue for young artists to showcase their talent.
  • All draft beer served will be from Alabama breweries.
  • Plans are for the restaurant to open in the fall.
