Sam’s Club renovations in Auburn among new $1M+ building permits

This past week, 17 new building permits were issued across Alabama for construction projects exceeding $1 million. These permits included projects in Auburn, Cullman, Huntsville and the Birmingham metro.

One of the priciest of these permits is for a renovation project for the Sam’s Club location in Auburn.

Sam’s Club in Auburn next in line for renovations

All 600+ Sam’s Club locations across the country are (or have been) undergoing renovations, and the Auburn location on Bent Creek Road is next in line.

Improvements include:

  • Register-Free Design: Transitioning physical spaces away from traditional checkout lanes to support phone-based “Scan & Go” technology.
  • Fresh Food Expansion: Installing new walk-in produce/dairy coolers, a renovated bakery, and fresh “sushi island” tenants.
  • Care Services: Expanding or rebuilding full-service pharmacy, optical, and hearing aid fulfillment centers

A $9.5 million permit was issued to Benchmark Corp for the project.
