Building Permits
The Psychology Department will move to this new building that was once Searcy Hall. (University of Alabama)

What was once known as Searcy Hall in Tuscaloosa will become the new offices for the University of Alabama’s Psychology Department.

A new $19 million building permit was issued for the project this past week, with Harrison Construction listed as the lead contractor.

The project involves an approximately 30,000 GSF renovation and a 22,117 GSF addition to the existing vacant sister building to Printing and Mail Services located directly across Kirkbride Lane.

The Project will be closely coordinated with the Kirkbride Lane Parking Lot project to ensure efficient execution and alignment of both Projects and includes the completion of the area of parking lot located within the Psychology project site.

The revamped facility will include:

  • A large lecture hall with seating for 136 and an additional classroom with 40 seats
  • 35 clinical labs and additional shared labs
  • 41 offices
  • Shared Graduate Student offices
  • Appropriate service and support space.
