UAB Science + Engineering Complex among 18 new multi-million-dollar building permits

This week, 18 new multi-million-dollar building permits were issued statewide in Alabama, with a significant number of those projects located in central Alabama.

One of the priciest projects approved this week is Phase 2 of the new Science & Engineering Complex at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Here are some details:

UAB Science + Engineering Complex – Phase 2

A $61 million building permit was approved this week for Brasfield & Gorrie, who will be the lead contractor on Phase 2 of the new UAB Science & Engineering Complex.

Here are some details on the project:

• Estimated cost is $61,040,000
• Stage IV proposal was approved at the June 2023 UA BOT meeting. 
• Contractor is mobilizing and construction to begin soon. 
• Target construction completion summer 2025
