Walmart Distribution Center renovations in Cullman among new building permits

The priciest of this week’s building permits is for renovations to the Walmart Distribution Center in Cullman. (Walmart)

This past week, 15 building permits were issued across Alabama for construction projects exceeding $1 million. Of those, eight are in North Alabama and five are in the Birmingham metro.

Two new building permits — a $44 million permit and a $17 million permit — were issued this past week for the Walmart Distribution Center in Cullman.

These permits are part of a larger %350 million investment the retail giant has committed to the Cullman center. The work includes renovating the distribution center with automation equipment and AI-powered software systems.
