One of the new building permits issued last week is a $12 million project for a Walmart Neighborhood Market in Tuscaloosa. (“Walmart Neighborhood Market” by JeepersMedia is licensed under CC BY 2.0)

In July, the Tuscaloosa City Council unanimously approved rezoning 1.86 acres of land in the area of 8600 Alabama Highway 69 South from R-1, residential, to BN, neighborhood commercial district to make way for a new Walmart Neighborhood Market.

This new grocery store will be located near the intersection with Patriot Parkway across from Tractor Supply Company. Another $2.6 million permit was issued for a fuel station at the same location.

The permit is for $12.6 million, and the store address is listed at 8600 AL-69, Tuscaloosa, AL 35405. DBS Corp. in Chattanooga is listed as the lead contractor, and they have not indicated a timeline for the project.
