Gulf Shores might just be the most popular spot in Alabama.
The tiny beach town continues to draw the eye of national news publications—from USA Today to Southern Living, everyone and their momma has praises to sing for our tiny beach town.
Now, it’s Condè Nast’s turn. The renowned travel publication listed Gulf Shores on its list of “26 Most Beautiful Beaches in the U.S.” We’ll tell you what they said, and why you’ll want to visit here soon.
‘You can never go wrong with Gulf Shores’
Condè Nast writers Paris Wilson and Caitlin Morton sang praises for Gulf Shores in their roundup. It was the only Alabama beach on the list, which included seasides in Oregon, Hawai’i and California.
“Surfers and boogie boarders will find smooth, wind-free waters. Along the coastline you’ll find heaps of volleyball nets, showers, souvenir shops and picnic pavilions for those looking forward to grill season.”

Condè Nast writers specifically named the Gulf Shores Public Beach—a stretch near The Hangout with wheelchair-accessible mats on the sand, pavilions, several iconic bars and some pretty cool sand sculptures.
Why you’ll want to visit
What’s not to love?
Gulf Shores is home to the best recreational trail in the country, located in a pretty great state park. Water too rough? Take a dip in freshwater Lake Shelby in Gulf State Park.
It’s got a great food and bar scene, too. Between The Hangout and the Pink Pony Pub, there’s ample opportunity for good eats and fabulous vibes.
Feeling adventurous? Book a charter and catch your own dinner. Or just walk along the water and soak in the sights and sounds of the beach—you can’t go wrong.
