13 new million-dollar-plus construction permits approved in Alabama, July 19th

We’ve got the inside scoop on 13 new million-dollar-plus construction permits awarded to contractors in Alabama last week, including a new distribution hub for a global company in Cullman. Keep reading for information like contractor names, contracts, permits values, project addresses and much more.
1. Reliance Worldwide Company expands operations
Cullman, Alabama
- Project Cost: $14,070,000
- Project Address: 2260 Ege Farm Drive Southwest, Cullman, AL 35055
- Project: Remodel Commercial, Addition, Permit # 50332 (addition)
- Owner of Project: RWC
- Contractor/Builder: Alston Construction
In October 2020, Australian-owned Reliance Worldwide Corporation (RWC) broke ground on a new, 300,000-square-foot distribution hub in Cullman, Alabama. RWC, a worldwide designer & manufacturer of water flow control products and systems, made their first foothold in Cullman almost two decades ago when buying Cash Acme.
Once complete, the project will increase RWC’s already significant presence in Cullman to a total of 1.1 million square feet of manufacturing and distribution space. The manufacturing & distribution center is expected to be finished by the end of 2021.
2. Revere at River Landing
Madison, Alabama
- Project Cost: $6,900,000
- Project Address: 30 East Revere Boulevard Southwest, Madison, AL 35756
- Project: Multi Family Dwelling, Apartments
- Owner of Project: Revere at River Landing
- Contractor/Builder: Ashburywoods LLC / HGG Ridge LTD
A new apartment community is under construction in Madison, just outside of Huntsville. Managed by Cleveland, Ohio-based Gross Residential, the Revere at River Landing apartments will soon offer additional living opportunities for people in the growing Huntsville area.
Once finished, the Revere at River Landing apartment community plans to offer a variety of one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments in 29 buildings. In addition, residents will have access to a number of amenities, including a clubhouse with a game room, a 24-hour fitness center, a saltwater pool and even a pet park!
3. New Residence Inn by Marriott on Highway 280
Mountain Brook, Alabama
- Project Cost: $17,307,854
- Project Address: 2790 Highway 280, Mountain Brook, AL 35223
- Project: New Building, New 120 Unit Hotel
- Owner of Project: Residence Inn Hotel
- Contractor/Builder: Bennett Building Inc
Birmingham-based Aum Enterprises is planning to break ground on a 6-story, 120-unit hotel on Highway 280 in Mountain Brook. Although the project was delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic, Aum Enterprises is excited to get started on this new hotel, which will go up next to the BrickTops on Highway 280.
Involved in the project are Dothan-based Bradley & Schmidt Architecture PLLC, Birmingham-based Gonzalez-Strength & Associates and Alabaster-based Bennett Building Inc.
Once complete, the Residence Inn by Marriott will join a long list of Alabama hotels in Aum Enterprises’ portfolio, including:
- The Homewood Suites in Five Points South
- The Hampton Suites in Pelham
- The Fairfield Inn & Suites in Pelham
- The Hampton Inn & Suites in Hoover
- The Fairfield Inn & Suites in Fultondale
