This past week, nine new building permits were approved across Alabama for construction projects exceeding $1 million. This includes a $24 million project at a church in Shelby County.

Construction on Faith Presbyterian Church

The largest of this week’s building permits is for a project at Faith Presbytherian Church in Shelby County , a project that carries a $24 million price tag.

Here are a few details:

The new 1,100-seat sanctuary will be twice the size of the current worship space
This project involves the building of a new sanctuary, and is the largest capital project in the church’s 50 year history.
The plan is to convert the existing sanctuary into a fellowship hall to be used for congregational gatherings, parties, receptions and community events.
Brasfield & Gorrie is listed as the lead contractor on this project.
