7 new building permits in Alabama exceeding $1 million each
This week, seven new building permits were pulled for construction projects exceeding $1 million. Of these new building permits, three are for projects exceeding $20 million, including the expansion of the Shinhwa plant in Auburn.
Here’s what we know about these new high-dollar projects:
Shinhwa plant expansion in Auburn
One of the new building permits issued this week was for a $32 million project led by Top Global Contractor in Georgia. This permit is for the continued expansion of Hyundai and Kia supplier Shinhwa Auto USA Corp. in Auburn.
Last spring, Shinhwa announced a second auto parts manufacturing facility in Auburn as part of a $78 million growth project that will create 42 jobs over the next three years.
Shinhwa will build the new 400,000-square-foot factory across from its existing location in Auburn Technology Park West to expand output of aluminum parts and meet future demands stemming from electric vehicle production.
Shinhwa opened its first plant in Auburn in 2019.
