New Drake State building among million-dollar-plus construction projects
Reading time: 2 minutes
This week, two new building permits were approved in Alabama for construction projects exceeding $1 million. Both of these permits are for projects in North Alabama.
The priciest of the two permits is an $18 million project at Drake State Community and Technical College in Huntsville — a new training center that broke ground earlier in the summer.
The Advanced Manufacturing Center at Drake State
Fite Building Company is the lead contractor for the new Advanced Manufacturing Center at Drake State.
The project includes two 50,000-square-foot buildings consisting of classrooms, welding and machine tool labs, industrial and electronic labs, additive manufacturing and additional academic spaces.
The buildings are single story structures with interior equipment platforms and an integral tornado shelter.
