Birmingham-based construction company Rader McCary, Inc. is working on a new project in downtown Birmingham. Known as the Theater Lofts, this new project aims to renovate the historic Duke Brothers building on 3rd Avenue North, across from the Alabama Theatre.

The Theater Lofts are aptly named, as they will be located on the same block as the historic Alabama and Lyric Theatres. In fact, the property was once home to the Majestic Theatre, a 1,200-seat theater and cinema. After the Majestic Theatre was demolished in 1922, Louis Pizitz constructed the three-story Duke Brothers building in its place.

The renovation of the building is estimated to cost $8,200,000. Rader McCary, Inc. has previously been involved in several renovation projects in Birmingham, including the Zinszer Building on 2nd Avenue North.
