This past week, 12 new building permits were issued across the state for construction projects exceeding $1 million. This includes projects in Madison, Morgan, Jefferson, Shelby and Lee counties, among others.

Among these was a $30 million permit issued as part of a huge student housing project in Auburn.

What’s up with The Mark at Auburn?

The Mark is a huge project just off the campus of Auburn university that will feature 825 total beds in 329 fully-furnished units from studios to five-bedroom apartments. They will include:

  • Quartz countertops
  • Stainless-steel appliances
  • Hardwood-style laminate floors
  • In-unit laundry
  • Large closets
  • Wired for cable and high-speed internet

The building is expected to have roughly 31,000 square feet of indoor/outdoor amenity space. It will include:

  • Clubhouse
  • Rooftop pool
  • Jumbotron
  • Grilling areas
  • Fire pits
  • Fitness center
  • Sports simulator
  • Study lounge with café
  • Computer labs
  • Onsite parking for 853 vehicles
  • Bike/scooter storage areas
