This past week, 24 new building permits were issued in Alabama for construction projects exceeding $1 million. This group of new permits includes three permits that exceed $10 million.

Improvements to the Village Creek Water Reclamation Facility in Birmingham is one of the projects that was issued a permit this past week, along with a $178 million project for Cyberdyne.

Village Creek Water Reclamation Facility

One permit issued this past week in the Birmingham area is a $34 million project for Max Foote Construction Co., which includes improvements to the Village Creek Water Reclamation Facility in Birmingham. Village Creek is the second largest Water Reclamation Facility in Alabama.

The scope of work on the project includes, but is not limited to:

Relocation, replacement, and provision of pole-mounted lighting fixtures
Pressure washing of surfaces
Removal of paint (including abatement of lead-based paint) and application of weatherproofing coatings
Door and window replacement, inspection, and repair
Miscellaneous site improvements work at the previously listed facilities and other facilities located at Plant 1, Plant 2, and Plant 3
