This week, 15 new building permits were issued in Alabama for construction projects exceeding $1 million. These new permits combined for $45.6 million in construction projects statewide.

Of these, four projects are for construction at school in the Birmingham City Schools system, totaling more than $8 million.

Projects at Birmingham City Schools facilities

Four permits were issued this past week for projects at schools in the Birmingham City Schools district. Argo Building Co. is listed as the lead contractor in all of these projects.

The schools and their permit amounts are:

Phillips Academy: $4 million
Smith Middle School: $1.7 million
Huffman Middle School: $1.3 million
Putnam Middle School: $1 million
